I have struggled with tummy aches for a long time. I never really paid much attention to their cause, and instead tried to deal with the pain. I have been tested for Celiac disease, colon cancer, and gluten intolerance. They have suspected chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. I have tried eliminating common trigger foods from my diet, taken probiotic supplements, and even went vegan for almost a year. Nothing was working, and I still have the chronic stomach pain. The current theory is that I suffer from IBS, but who knows how long that diagnosis sticks around?
A few days ago, I watched Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead on Netflix. The subject of the documentary was overweight and had a chronic autoimmune disease that required daily medicine--that only sometimes worked. He decided he didn't want to live that way any longer, so one day he flew to the US and started a 60 day juice fast. By the end of the 60 days, he had lost almost 100lbs and was completely free from his medication--and his autoimmune disease did not resurface.
Of course, after watching that, I did what any impulsive lass would do and I bought a juicer. I'm not overweight, and as much as I would love to get rid of my love handles or baby belly, my BMI is right where it should be. So don't worry Mom, I'm not planning on going on a juice fast. But I am planning on focusing on drinking more juices instead of taking vitamin supplements. I'm also going to stick to my gluten-free diet, because so far that has been the only confirmed solution for my tummy troubles.
So far, two days and three juices later, I have more energy than I normally do and I have had less blonde moments. I have yet to confirm whether the lack of airheadedness is linked to the juice.
If you want to follow along with me, Instagram is mostly likely where I will be hanging out. And feel free to inundate me with your juicing recipes, tips, and stories in the comments!
I love all of your faces.
